The Gate in Collier County - Public Golf

The Gate is a new golf course being designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy. The site is formerly, Golden Gate, a closed golf course being redeveloped into 25 acres of affordable housing by Collier County. Part of the site is being proposed by Arthrex to serve as repurposed First Tee and 9 hole golf course public facility.

Progress updates are posted showing Glase Golf construction to build the Jacobsen Hardy routing plan.

As part of the plan, the new "Willow Oak 9" golf course would highlight the natural beauty of the existing Willow Oak tree landscape with drainage channels built into the water treatment facility onsite. The Collier County area lacks opportunity and tee times for public golf.

In addition to the golf course, the plan includes a driving range and practice area for introduction to golf by The First Tee. The design has 5 sets of tees ranging from 3369 yards from the Jake tees to the 1269 yards from the Gator forward tees.

Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy founded Jacobsen Hardy Design and have a long history in golf course design. The team's portfolio includes Moody Gardens Golf Course, which offers a unique tropical golfing experience. The Wanderers Club at Wellington is another gem, known for its meticulously maintained fairways and greens. Brasada and Grays Crossing are also highly regarded, offering stunning views and challenging layouts. Other notable designs include Hammock Bay, Salishan, Moorpark CC, Redstone, Stone Creek, BlackHorse, Cypress Ridge, Creekside, and the prestigious Oregon Golf Club.

Degarmo Park in Chico, California is a municipal public/private funded project to introduce juniors in the community to golf.
