Kawonu Golf Club - Andrew Green - South Carolina

Andrew Green will lead the design of Kawonu Golf Club in Greenville, South Carolina. Golf construction will begin in the first quarter of 2025. Anticipated as a new opening in late 2026 or early 2027, Green has partnered with Scott Ferrell, Barton Tuck, Noel Tuck to design a new golf course on the nearly 300 acre property. Ferrell is a local Greenville resident who led Gary Player Design for fifteen years as President, travelling to oversee new golf course designs globally.

Lead shaper Joey Chase is onsite working closely with Andrew Green. Early in his career, Chase studied at Rutgers University for Turfgrass Management and worked for Roger Rulewich, notably working in Portugal at Roncão D’El Rei Golf Course with landscape architecture firm ARPAS. Other work includes renovation work with golf architect Tripp Davis at Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. Chase was the lead shaper for Todd Eckenrode's renovation at Sharon Heights Country Club.

David Barrett has been named as Kawonu's Director of Agronomy serving as the grow in superintendent working with the fine shaping team to complete grow in.

The site is near Highway 418 and Fork Shoals Road. The golf course will be core golf with 2 whiskey loop alternative routings for shorter golf rounds as an option. The property is adjacent to the Reedy River and will be a par 72 measuring 7,325 yards from the back tees. Plans are for 100 acres to remain as a nature preserve.
